Theorycrafted before the WoW Forever beta (September 17, 2026). The leveling plan follows the proven Classic leveling builds, the talents use the pre-release WoW Forever trees on this site, and ability levels quoted from Classic may differ in Forever. Expect updates once the beta is testable.

Overview

Levels 10–60 · Feral Combat Druid, solo questing and grinding.

Feral is the most self-sufficient way to level a Druid: Bear Form at 10 carries you through the teens, Cat Form at 20 kills quickly with bleeds and finishers, and between fights you shift out, heal yourself and drink as a caster. The talent path follows the classic Feral leveling route (Ferocity, Feline Swiftness, Sharpened Claws, Feral Charge, Predatory Strikes, Savage Fury, Leader of the Pack, Heart of the Wild, then Furor from Restoration). The WoW Forever Feral tree changes a lot: Feline Swiftness is now Feral Swiftness (30% Cat Form speed and 4% dodge), Mangle is a new combo point builder, Primal Fury can add an extra combo point on Cat crits, King of the Jungle makes Tiger’s Fury grant 60 Energy, and Berserk caps the tree. Omen of Clarity and Nature’s Grasp are not in the Forever Balance tree, so the final points go into Restoration: Furor and Naturalist for 5% more damage.

Why this build

  • Fast kills with no mana cost. Cat Form runs on Energy, and caster-form heals only happen between fights.
  • Excellent travel. Feral Swiftness speeds up Cat Form by 30%, which saves a lot of time before Travel Form at 30.
  • Flexible. Bear Form for bad pulls and elites, Cat Form for questing, caster form for heals and buffs.
  • Strong finishing kit at 60: Mangle, Rend and Tear on bleeding targets and Berserk for burst.

Weak spots

  • Weapon damage does not matter in forms, but Strength, Agility and Attack Power do. Druid leveling gear is often leather with the wrong stats.
  • Multiple mobs in Cat Form hurt; shift to Bear Form early instead of trying to finish the fight in cat.
  • Shifting costs mana, so a long fight with several form changes can leave you unable to heal.

Talent order by level

One point per level from level 10 to 60. The talent tree above shows the finished level 60 build; use the level slider to see it at any level.

  • Levels 10–14 · Ferocity 5/5 — Maul, Mangle, Swipe, Claw and Rake cost 5 less Rage or Energy at 5/5: more attacks in every fight.
  • Levels 15–16 · Feral Swiftness 2/2 — 30% faster movement in Cat Form and 4% more dodge at 2/2: the best leveling quality-of-life talent in the tree.
  • Levels 17–19 · Thick Hide 3/3 — More base armor per level in Bear, Cat and Moonkin Form, which carries you through the Bear Form levels.
  • Levels 20–21 · Sharpened Claws 2/2 — +6% crit chance in Bear and Cat Form at 2/2; also required for Primal Fury.
  • Levels 22–23 · Savage Fury 2/2 — +10% damage on Claw, Rake, Shred, Maul and Swipe; required for Mangle.
  • Level 24 · Feral Charge 1/1 — Bear Form charge that immobilizes and interrupts; the Cat Form version leaps behind the target and dazes it.
  • Levels 25–27 · Predatory Strikes 3/3 — Melee Attack Power equal to 150% of your level at 3/3.
  • Level 28 · Mangle 1/1 — A new combo point builder that hits for full weapon damage plus a bonus: your main button in Cat Form.
  • Levels 29–30 · Primal Fury 2/2 — Crits from Cat combo point builders have a 50% chance to add an extra combo point, and Bear crits give extra Rage.
  • Levels 31–33 · King of the Jungle 3/3 — Tiger’s Fury instantly grants 60 Energy at 3/3: an extra finisher in every longer fight.
  • Levels 34–35 · Predatory Instincts 2/2 — +20% critical strike damage bonus on melee abilities at 2/2.
  • Level 36 · Leader of the Pack 1/1 — +3% crit chance for you and your party while in Bear or Cat Form.
  • Levels 37–41 · Rend and Tear 5/5 — +10% melee ability damage against bleeding targets at 5/5: keep Rake or Rip on the mob.
  • Level 42 · Berserk 1/1 — For 15 sec Mangle has no cooldown and hits up to 3 targets, builders get +100% crit chance and you are immune to Fear.
  • Levels 43–47 · Furor (Restoration) 5/5 — A chance for 10 Rage when shifting to Bear Form and some Energy back when shifting to Cat Form.
  • Levels 48–52 · Naturalist (Restoration) 5/5 — +5% damage on everything you do, forms included, and a faster Healing Touch between fights.
  • Levels 53–55 · Shredding Attacks 3/3 — 18 Energy cheaper Shred at 3/3, for fights that start from behind with Ravage or Feral Charge (Cat).
  • Levels 56–60 · Heart of the Wild 5/5 — More Intellect for caster heals, extra Strength in Cat Form and extra Stamina in Bear Form.

Key levels

  • Level 10 · Bear Form from the class quest. Ferocity starts, making Maul and Swipe cheaper.
  • Level 15 · Feral Swiftness: Cat Form is not available yet, but the dodge helps and the speed is ready for 20.
  • Level 20 · Cat Form, Claw, Rip and Prowl. Sharpened Claws adds crit in both forms.
  • Level 24 · Feral Charge and Rake/Tiger’s Fury from the trainer. Open from Prowl with Rake or Ravage later.
  • Level 28 · Mangle: a stronger combo point builder than Claw.
  • Level 30 · Travel Form. Primal Fury: Cat crits can add an extra combo point.
  • Level 36 · Leader of the Pack and Pounce. Rend and Tear follows for bonus damage on bleeding targets.
  • Level 40 · Dire Bear Form: the answer to every overpull from here on.
  • Level 42 · Berserk: Mangle without cooldown, hitting up to three targets, with doubled builder crits for 15 sec.

How to pull and kill

  1. Buff Mark of the Wild and Thorns in caster form, then shift to Cat Form and Prowl up to the mob.
  2. Open with Rake from 24 (Ravage from behind or Pounce from 36 once trained), or Feral Charge in from range.
  3. Build combo points with Mangle (Claw before 28) and use Tiger’s Fury for an instant Energy refill with King of the Jungle.
  4. Spend five points on Rip for tough mobs or Ferocious Bite for mobs that will die soon; Rend and Tear rewards keeping a bleed up.
  5. If a second mob joins or health drops below half, shift to Bear Form, Demoralizing Roar and Maul or Swipe until it is safe.
  6. After the fight, shift out, Regrowth or Healing Touch yourself and drink if mana is low, then Cat Form and Prowl again.

Leveling tips

  • Stats for Feral: Strength and Agility first, then Stamina. Weapon damage is ignored in forms, but Attack Power on a weapon is not.
  • Skinning and Leatherworking are natural for a druid, or Herbalism with Cat Form stealth to reach nodes.
  • Travel between quests in Cat Form from 15 to 30 and Travel Form after 30; Feral Swiftness makes cat travel almost mount speed early on.
  • Cower and Prowl let you skip packs you do not need. Stealth past camps to reach quest targets.
  • Quest zones by level: Darkshore or the Barrens to 20, Loch Modan, Westfall or Silverpine early on, the Barrens, Ashenvale and Hillsbrad to 30, Arathi, Desolace and Stranglethorn to 40, Tanaris, Feralas and the Hinterlands to 50, then Un’Goro, Felwood and Winterspring.
  • Dungeons: Wailing Caverns (19–25) is ideal for druid class quests; Bear Form lets you tank Scarlet Monastery wings in the 30s if a group needs it.
  • No healing gear needed. Shifting out for Regrowth or Healing Touch between fights is enough for solo play, and Naturalist makes Healing Touch faster late in the build.

After level 60

At 60 this is a complete cat build. For tanking, move points from King of the Jungle, Shredding Attacks and Predatory Instincts into Natural Reaction and Feral Instinct, and wear Stamina and Armor gear in Dire Bear Form.
