Theorycrafted before the WoW Forever beta (September 17, 2026). The leveling plan follows the proven Classic leveling builds, the talents use the pre-release WoW Forever trees on this site, and ability levels quoted from Classic may differ in Forever. Expect updates once the beta is testable.

The duo at a glance

Warrior & Paladin Duo for levels 10–60: an Arms Warrior who takes the hits and a Retribution Paladin who hits hard and heals between swings.

The classic Alliance melee pair fixes each class’s biggest leveling problem: a solo Warrior eats after every second mob, a solo Paladin kills slowly. Together the Warrior holds the mobs, the Paladin adds Seal of Command damage and tops the Warrior up with Flash of Light, and neither sits down often. Both play damage specs, since little in the open world needs a dedicated tank or healer. Paladins are Alliance-only, so this duo is too.

Role Spec Job
DPS Arms Warrior Charges first, holds the mobs and turns damage taken into Rage for Mortal Strike and Sweeping Strikes
DPS Retribution Paladin Seal of Command damage, Blessings, Flash of Light between kills and the emergency cooldowns

Both specs link to their own guide with the talents for that half of the duo.

How the warrior & paladin duo plays

  1. The Warrior opens every pull. Charge (or a shot, for pulls near other packs), Rend, then Battle Shout. The Paladin waits a second before swinging so the first threat lands on the Warrior.
  2. The Paladin judges and swings. Seal of Command on, Judgement on the Warrior’s target, re-seal, keep meleeing. Blessing of Might goes on the Warrior and Blessing of Wisdom on yourself before the session: Blessings last an hour in WoW Forever.
  3. Damage taken is Rage. With a healer standing next to you, the Warrior can take several mobs at once and turn every hit into Rage for Mortal Strike, Overpower and Heroic Strike. Pull two mobs as the normal rhythm from Sweeping Strikes at 30.
  4. Heal between kills, not during them. The Paladin keeps swinging while the Warrior is above half health, then uses Flash of Light as the last mob dies. Holy Light is for the pull that went wrong.
  5. Cooldowns are shared. Lay on Hands, Divine Protection and Blessing of Protection belong to the Paladin, but most of the time they are used to save the Warrior. Agree which one you use first when an extra pack joins.

Your job as Arms Warrior

You are the front of the duo. Every mob should be looking at you, because you are the one who gets Rage from being hit and the Paladin’s heals only have to follow one health bar. Where a solo Warrior pulls one mob and eats, you pull two and keep going: Rend both, Sweeping Strikes into Mortal Strike, and let Deep Wounds and Weaponmaster do the rest. The Forever Arms tree helps you keep Rage up between pulls: Anger Management keeps generating Rage in combat and slows its decay afterwards, and Improved Tactical Mastery keeps up to 25 Rage when you swap stances, so a quick Defensive Stance Taunt or Berserker Stance Intercept no longer costs your whole bar.

Pull by pull

  • Battle Shout, then Charge the first mob. If a second mob is near, let it come to you rather than charging past it.
  • Rend on every target: it feeds Improved Rend damage now and Bloodthrill’s free Overpowers from 41.
  • From 30, Sweeping Strikes before your first big hit, so Mortal Strike or Overpower lands on two mobs.
  • Dump extra Rage into Heroic Strike: the Paladin’s heals mean you end most pulls with Rage to spare.
  • Hamstring anything below 30% health that starts to flee, then Execute it.

Mistakes that get the duo killed

  • Letting the Paladin open the pull: Seal of Command and Judgement land a lot of early threat, and the mob stays on the cloth-healer half of the duo.
  • Fighting at the edge of Flash of Light range. Stay close so the Paladin can keep swinging and heal without walking away.
  • Charging into a pack of three casters: you reach one and the other two stand back and cast at the Paladin.
  • Saving Bloodrage for a perfect moment. Use it on cooldown in combat; with a healer behind you, Rage is damage.

Talent order by level

One point per level from level 10. The talent tree above shows the finished level 60 build; use the level slider to see it at any level.

  • Levels 10–12 · Improved Rend 3/3 — +35% Rend bleed damage. Rend is your first global cooldown on every mob, and later it switches on Bloodthrill.
  • Levels 13–14 · Improved Heroic Strike 2/3 — Cheaper Heroic Strike. With a healer next to you, you often have spare Rage, and this is where it goes.
  • Levels 15–16 · Improved Charge 2/2 — Charge gives 6 more Rage, enough to Rend and Battle Shout straight away.
  • Levels 17–19 · Improved Tactical Mastery 3/5 — Keep up to 25 Rage when you change stance: Taunt in Defensive Stance when a mob turns to the Paladin, then swap back without starting from zero.
  • Levels 20–22 · Deep Wounds 3/3 — Your critical strikes make the target bleed for 60% of your average weapon damage over 12 sec, on every mob you crit.
  • Levels 23–24 · Improved Tactical Mastery 5/5 — finish the talent.
  • Level 25 · Anger Management 1/1 — 1 Rage every 3 sec in combat and 30% slower Rage decay afterwards, so you walk into the next pull with Rage.
  • Levels 26–28 · Two-Handed Weapon Specialization 3/3 — +3% damage with the two-hander you level with.
  • Level 29 · Impale 1/2 — +20% critical strike damage for your abilities in all stances, which also makes Deep Wounds hit harder.
  • Level 30 · Sweeping Strikes 1/1 — Your next 5 melee attacks hit an extra nearby mob. This is the talent that turns two-mob pulls into the normal rhythm.
  • Level 31 · Impale 2/2 — finish the talent.
  • Levels 32–36 · Weaponmaster 5/5 — Forever’s weapon specialization: crit with axes and polearms, armor penetration with maces and staves, extra attacks with swords. Pick the talent up for whatever two-hander you find.
  • Levels 37–39 · Deflection 3/5 — More parry. You take every hit in this duo, so avoidance saves the Paladin mana.
  • Level 40 · Mortal Strike 1/1 — Your big hit at 40: weapon damage plus a bonus, and it halves healing on the target, which matters against mobs that heal themselves.
  • Levels 41–45 · Bloodthrill 5/5 — Attacks against targets with your Rend have a 10% chance to enable Overpower. Rend is already on every mob, so this is free damage.
  • Levels 46–47 · Improved Overpower 2/2 — +50% Overpower crit chance, which pairs with Bloodthrill’s extra Overpowers and Deep Wounds.
  • Levels 48–52 · Cruelty (Fury) 5/5 — +5% melee crit from the Fury tree: more Deep Wounds, more Impale damage.
  • Levels 53–57 · Unbridled Wrath (Fury) 5/5 — A 40% chance to gain an extra Rage point on each weapon hit.
  • Levels 58–59 · Deflection 5/5 — finish the talent.
  • Level 60 · Improved Heroic Strike 3/3 — finish the talent.

Where to level

10–20: Elwynn Forest, Westfall and Loch Modan; Hall of Thanes (13–18) and The Deadmines (18–24) with a group. 20–30: Redridge, Duskwood and the Wetlands, with the Excavation Site (24–29) and The Stockade (26–32), a short all-humanoid dungeon that suits melee. 30–40: Arathi Highlands, Stranglethorn Vale and Desolace; Crusade and Exorcism make Scarlet Monastery Graveyard (31–37) quick. 40–50: Tanaris, Feralas and the Hinterlands, with Krol’dok Stronghold (40–55), Uldaman (44–50) and Zul’Farrak (45–51). 50–60: Un’Goro Crater, Felwood, the Plaguelands (undead again for Crusade) and Winterspring, with Blackrock Depths (52–60).

Where the duo struggles

  • Casters and ranged mobs stand back and do not follow Charge. The Warrior breaks line of sight around a tree or corner so they walk in, and the Paladin uses Hammer of Justice on the one that keeps casting.
  • Running mobs at low health pull extra packs. Hamstring the runner before it reaches 20% health, or the Paladin stuns it.
  • Paladin mana is the limit on long sessions. Judgement with Sanctified Judgement returns mana, but the Paladin should drink whenever the Warrior eats.
  • Little crowd control. Hammer of Justice and Hamstring are all this build brings. Three mobs that all hit hard are a pull to skip, not a pull to try.
